The continuing tech recession has clearly devastated some of the priciest real estate markets in the nation, from San Jose to suburban Boston.

Yet when the tech growth returns, investors need to assess what parts of the country will benefit most.In the nation's vast mid-section, there are those who see tech growth flowing away from the coasts and towards the office parks that surround many Midwest communities. In an economy that, even as it improves, will force firms to be more cost conscious -- particularly with the prospect of weak stock prices -- heartland boosters see a major reason for tech firms to locate to a part of the country that, for the most part, they historically have avoided...
