RFQ for architectural and engineering consulting services for the development of two waterfront parks

The San Diego Unified Port District

RFQ 15-09

CHULA VISTA BAYFRONT PARKS

The San Diego Unified Port District, in cooperation with the City of Chula Vista, is soliciting a request for qualifications (RFQ) for an urban park planning, design and engineering team to provide architectural and engineering consulting services for the development of two new waterfront parks on San Diego Bay in Chula Vista, California.  The parks are part of an award-winning, comprehensive, 535-acre Chula Vista Bayfront Master Plan.  The overall objective of the Master Plan is to create a very special contiguous waterfront and to extend the City of Chula Vista to the San Diego Bay.  This is to ensure the public right of access to the shoreline while at the same time protecting the sensitive natural habitat which is part of the adjacent National Wildlife Refuge.  Sweetwater and Harbor Parks and adjacent buffer areas, totaling 85 acres, are the key feature through which the great assets of the Bayfront will be experienced.

The project team may include a landscape architect, civil engineer, public outreach consultant, architect, biologist or natural scientist, geotechnical engineer, coastal engineer, surveyor, cost estimator, arborist or horticulturist, public art consultant, signage/graphic designer, lighting designer, structural engineer, mechanical engineer, electrical engineer, events programming, and park operations and maintenance consultant.  The District is seeking a qualified design team with experience in the planning and design of public parks.  Experience with coastal sites and a strong working relationship among the team is desirable.

The District will conduct an Information Exchange Meeting on March 19, 2015 at 2:30 p.m., Pacific Standard Time, in the Training Room of the San Diego Unified Port District Administration Building, located at 3165 Pacific Highway, San Diego, CA  92101.  Attendance by project team members interested in responding the RFQ is highly encouraged.

Deadline to submit a response is April 7, 2015, 2:00 p.m., Pacific Standard Time.  The Request for Qualifications can be downloaded from the District’s website at http://vendors.planetbids.com/SDUPD/bidsearch4.cfm. For questions regarding this RFQ should be directed the District’s eBid System no later than March 25, 2015 by 2:00 p.m., Pacific Standard Time.  All other inquires shall be directed to Carlos Santiago, Contracts Administrator, at 619-686-6235.
