Residents Oppose Blight-removal Demolition

2 July 2002 - 7:00am

Residents oppose a $300 million Neighborhood Transformation Initiative in Philadelphia that aims to reverse blight by demolishing vacant buildings.

"Residents want things to get better in their North Philadelphia neighborhood, but are having a hard time buying the idea that leveling much of it is the cure. The work that was to start late this month now may not start until October or later."
