The elections are over! The results are in, and your community selected new officials. Will they be champions for economic development?

Elected officials are extraordinarily important partners to help make your economic development work successful. Your elected leaders have leverage to implement your economic development plan, and ease the time and costs for companies doing business locally. They bring together community agencies, businesses, and key stakeholders to promote projects and programs. An elected leader’s understanding of economic development can set a very positive tone for their term and economic development professionals play an essential role in that relationship building.

Join IEDC on January 21, 2015 to learn insider tips on how to turn your elected officials into champions for economic development. In this webinar, you will learn how to:

  • Educate your elected officials about economic development
  • Discuss the community’s economic development goals and strategies
  • Foster a good working relationship with your elected officials

Speaker:

Regina Lindsey
Chief Development Officer
Vice President of Economic Development
Greenspoint District
Houston, Texas

Lindsey joined the District in 2009 in the joint role of manager of Greens Bayou projects for the District, and Executive Director of the Greens Bayou Corridor Coalition (GBCC). With the Coalition, she led two delegations to Washington, D.C., to advocate funding for crucial flood remediation projects. In 2012, she relinquished her staff position with GBCC to head the District’s newly created Economic Development Department. Lindsey led the Greenspoint District’s economic development strategic planning process. She now manages the execution of that plan, which includes business attraction efforts focused on energy, logistics and technology. She also works to attract foreign direct investment to Greenspoint.
