Cost-benefit Analysis Of Development

Palm Beach County, FL., wants to be able to compare costs and benefits of development.
In response to recommendations by a study group, the Florida Legislature set aside $500,000 last year to develop a workable formula to weigh what a development raises in new taxes against what it costs in new roads, schools and other services. Work is just getting started at the state Division of Community Planning, but Palm Beach County Commissioner Karen Marcus wants the county to jump ahead.
