New Studies On Race And Housing

4 June 2002 - 9:00am

Four new studies on housing in Chicago, Boston, and San Diego examine the changing racial landscape based on 2000 Census data.

Kennedy School of Government finds a small number of communities are becoming increasingly white as gentrification is occurring and some multi-racial communities are developing. One conclusion: Communities need to address concerns about equity and access to adequate housing, transportation and employment opportunities, and to coordinate regionally to begin to deal effectively with a more complex metropolitan space.
