Streamlined Permitting Approved for California Rooftop Solar

The path to a distributed solar future just got clearer in California, thanks to new bill approved by the State Legislature and awaiting Governor Jerry Brown's signature.

"The Legislature on Thursday passed the Solar Permitting Efficiency Act, which promises to streamline the solar permitting process throughout California," reports Chad Garland. "Industry officials say that could save each customer $1,000 or more on the cost of installing solar panels."

"The bill also prohibits homeowner associations from passing restrictions that increase the cost of solar panel systems by more than $1,000."

Compare California's efforts to states where solar programs are prohibited or are still subject to market battles with established utility companies.
