Urban Design Teams Interviewed For WTC Site

17 May 2002 - 5:00am

The Lower Manhattan Development Corporation is interviewing urban design teams for the urban planning study of downtown Manhattan.

"...teams had submitted proposals, which were due May 6, for the urban planning study... Funded by the Port Authority at “an amount not to exceed $3 million,” according to Tomson, the urban planning study will require a review of planning and transportation options by early July and a preferred land use plan by December. The land use plan will include suggested placement of street layouts, a new transportation hub, and residential, commercial, and office components. The selected urban design team will be working in concert with Alexander Garvin, the LMDC vice president for planning, design, and development, to develop the plan."
