New Plan To Improve Regional Transit

19 April 2002 - 6:00am

Mid-America Regional Council will develop a 10-year plan to improve mass transit in the region.

"The Mid-America Regional Council on Wednesday announced it would work with transit advocates and civic and business leaders to develop a 10-year service plan to improve regional public transit...This effort differs from previous transit initiatives. Instead of focusing on a single project, such as light rail, the proposal will take a larger view."

Under the proposal, the government would assign the populace the task of counting and mapping dog droppings as a first step to greater penalties for owners who fail to clean up after their mutts.
