Trends In Open Space Preservation

Milwaukee's efforts to preserve open space in county parks exemplify a trend in open space preservation.
"Municipal parks usually provide the playgrounds, ball fields and other amenities provided in so-called "traditional parks," she said, so county parks fill another niche. The idea is to balance preservation of sensitive natural areas with the needs of county residents to enjoy the environment, said Tom Evers, Midwest public affairs manager for The Trust for Public Land."
