Speakers at the New Partners for Smart Growth conference say smart growth can improve security.
"There are plenty of good arguments for sound urban planning, but no one has touted it as a means of combating terrorism.Until now.Responding to the concern for public safety that followed the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, several speakers at yesterday's New Partners for Smart Growth conference argued that planning strategies such as high-density housing and expanded transit systems could improve security."
