Open Carpools To All

A study for the Minnesota Department of Transportation says that carpool lanes are only operating at 50% capacity.
"Opening the carpool-bus lanes on [Minnesota's] Interstate Hwys. 35W and 394 to all drivers would speed up trips, cut gas consumption and reduce tailpipe emissions, according to a new study... But Sen. Dick Day, R-Owatonna, was jubilant about the findings, saying that they confirm what drivers already know: that the lanes are underused and wildly violated."
