When New Urbanism Won't Sell

A New Urbanism-style development in Arvada, CO resorts to blending new urbanism and suburban styles to attract the market.
"Although New Urbanism -- a building style that hearkens back to old-time, pedestrian-friendly neighborhoods -- is all the rage in building circles, prospective buyers weren't buying it. At least not everything about it. "When we did focus groups with potential home buyers, we were surprised to find that people didn't want all of the features of a New Urbanism or a neo-traditional community," said Osborn."
