NYC Mayor Fulfills Campaign Promise, Commutes By Subway

Last year Michael Bloomberg promised that if elected mayor of New York, he would commute by public transit, but no one believed him until now.

While many New York mayors have claimed to be subway riders and many have claimed to be men of the people, the wealthiest mayor so far is also the first to ride the subway to work regularly. Why would Mayor Bloomberg give up his limousine to take the most crowded line in a crowded city? "It is a testament to something like principle, civic pride, progressive thinking or just plain old masochism."
