Bay Area Efforts To Reduce Smog Get Poor Grade

A Sierra Club reportgave the Bay Area a C-minus grade for its efforts to reducesmog through public transit spending. The report found thatresidents of the nine-county Bay Area created as muchpollution per person as did residents of perennially smo
The study also found that California spendsnearly twice as much on highways as it does on publictransportation. The Sierra Club complimented some efforts toreduce car use, including San Jose's expansion of thelight-rail system."
