New Urbanist Project Construction Starts Soar

Neighborhood-scale projects completed or under construction rose by 37 percent in 2001.
"So many new urbanist projects have slowly worked their way through the planning pipeline that a burst of activity was inevitable, especially in the prolonged period of economic growth that now appears to have ended. Such a high rate of growth is not likely to be sustained in the coming years. However, the jump in projects under construction may also represent a growing confidence in the economic viability of the New Urbanism in its diverse incarnations."
