Hospitals Are Intregrating Retail Development
9 November 2001 - 2:00pm
The new trend in hospital planning and development is to include miniature malls and retail stores.
"Most hospitals have long had cafeterias and gift shops, and many have pharmacies. Some have even added a fast-food restaurant or a cafe. But the latest crop of retail offerings is decidedly more elaborate. The trend is likely to continue as hospitals redesign their outdated facilities or build new ones... A case in point is the $100 million, 500,000-square-foot University Pointe project under construction in West Chester, Ohio."
