Planetizen Announces New Managing Editor: Jonathan Nettler, AICP

Nettler will oversee the operations of the Planetizen website, Planetizen Press and Planetizen Courses, which collectively reach more than 2.1 million unique visitors every year.

Mr. Nettler is an urban planner and historian with a background in architecture. He has worked in Boston, Washington D.C., San Francisco, New York, and Los Angeles on a range of project types including large-scale urban design, waterfront and brownfield redevelopment, transit-oriented development, urban infill, campus planning, historic preservation and zoning. "I’m thrilled to have an opportunity to stay engaged with a diverse range of market sectors while exploring the fascinating intersection of planning, journalism, and technology," said Nettler. "I am honored to join the Planetizen team, and am looking forward to working with our group of esteemed contributors."

Nettler is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) and serves on the board of directors for the Los Angeles section of the American Planning Association (APA) as the vice director for professional development. He is also active in local volunteer organizations as a member of the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council’s urban design and preservation committee, and as a member of the board of directors of Hollywood Heritage.

Jonathan previously served as project manager and project planner for Ehrenkrantz Eckstut & Kuhn (EE&K) Architects and as a consultant on transit-oriented planning projects in Los Angeles. He received a master of arts degree in architecture from the University of California, Los Angeles and a bachelor of arts degree in history from Boston University.
