How To Get Great Streets

Great Streets. You want them, but to get them you have to be able to negotiate with your state department of transportation.
Your DOT likely has a lot more experience on these issues than you do, whether you're a community, a city, or an individual. And once you begin working with your DOT, you'll learn that it is a solidly structured and well-funded organization, geared to fulfill its mandate effectively.When there's a hitch, the cause is usually that your DOT's standard approach does not suit the particular context of your community. What do you do in such a case? Having had some success in this area, I was asked by Planning to provide some advice.
