A Perfect Laneway in Saskatoon

Paul Hanley gets excited about the worldwide trend towards turning "laneways" - alleys, in U.S.-speak - into great urban spaces.

Hanley sees a trend for "livable laneways" stretching from Vancouver to Melbourne, and fantasizes about revitalizing laneways in Sasketoon.

"Public art and parties seem to be key ingredients in alley makeovers," writes Hanley.

Hanley reviews successful laneways in San Francisco, Seattle and, of course, Vancouver.

"Saskatoon's Broadway area would seem to be an obvious chose for laneway redevelopment, with local businesses and residents in the lead."
