Claiming frustration with inadequate funding and not enough time in the schedule, famed architect Santiago Calatrava has walked away from the Denver Airport's south terminal expansion project.
The Denver Post uncovers some details of the great expense Calatrava's firm added to the project, like a $640k bill for animation and models.
Governor John Hickenlooper weighed in on the controversy:
"We had high hopes this would be a project he, the city and the state would be proud of," Hickenlooper said. "The trouble was the conditions of the economy dictated that we had to try and tighten the budget. And at a certain point, he wasn't willing to do that."
