WTC Towers: Mapping Ground Zero

Global Positioning technology helps create a three-dimensional picture of the devastation at the site of the World Trade Center attacks.
"Using a laser-based instrument, scientists are making accurate topographic images of ground zero, in hopes that they can help firefighters and rescue workers navigate the mounds and chasms of debris and identify areas that may shift or collapse." Includes an interactive feature with 3D maps of the World Trade Center towers before and after the attack.
