You Can Name Philadelphia’s Next Great Public Space
A new public space is coming to 30th Street Station in Philadelphia, and the city plans to crowdsource its name.
The new public space will be in the areasurrounding 30th Street Station, which, as the project website explains, "...while an important gateway to University City and the entire Philadelphia region, has long been among the least hospitable pedestrian landscapes in University City."
The plan is to convert a parking lane along Market Street into a 40-ft. wide sidewalk, "with amenities such as abundant and comfortable seating, sun and shade, trees and plantings." Construction should be completed by Labor Day weekend.
The website also notes that future capital investments will also be "crowdsourced."
