New Jersey's two gubernatorial candidates disagree on how New Jersey should deal with its rapid growth.
"The two candidates offer contrasting approaches. McGreevey, who champions incremental policy changes, said he believed state government should do more to aid municipalities against developers. Schundler, a firm believer in free markets and home rule, said municipalities should be left to their own discretion in determining growth... McGreevey has blamed sprawl on a lack of leadership, continuing his campaign theme of criticizing a Republican administration and Republican-led legislature. He wants to put more regulatory teeth in the state plan to encourage compliance because the current plan is merely a set of voluntary guidelines."
