The Truth About Energy Efficiency
16 June 2011 - 8:00am
The truth is, it works: a new report shows that energy efficiency standards placed on utilities result in less demand and greater savings.
The report says that energy efficiency resource standards programs "catalyze the implementation of energy efficiency programs to reduce electricity and natural gas consumption in homes and businesses."
Grist's Stephen Lacey adds a note of caution:
"These are still early days for many programs, so targets will get harder to meet as time goes on."
That said, Lacey says the report makes a convincing argument in favor of these programs.
