When asked to describe their town at a charrette, the residents of Canon chose words like "rundown", "courageous" and "eccentric". University of Georgia students and professors worked with locals to create a vision for the town.
Residents of Canon are eager to see some investment in their downtown, according to opinions voiced at the charrette. Other things they are seeking include "...repair of the sidewalks, work on some of the dilapidated businesses and housing and to finish the much anticipated ballparks.
They suggested community cleanups, updating the cemeteries, more church involvement, better attitudes, removal of unsightly debris and more money."
Students quickly turned the ideas into designs and presented the ideas to a crowd of locals.
