The Congress for the New Urbanism

The Congress for the New Urbanism is the nation's leading advocacy organization dedicated to promoting walkable, mixed-use neighborhood development, sustainable communities and healthier living conditions.

This year, the organization hosts its 19th annual Congress event in Madison, Wisconsin, June 1-4. Exploring the theme of "Growing Local," CNU 19 will draw on the close relationship Madison has with its agricultural neighbors, and examine topics such as Bikeability & Transportation, Agriculture & Urbanism, Architecture & Placemaking, and many more.

With distinguished speakers such as William Cronon, Ed Glaeser, Congressman Earl Blumenauer, Growing Power's Will Allen, Henry Cisneros, all six founders of CNU, and Robert Davis of the Seaside Institute among many others, CNU 19 is the go-to venue for New Urbanist education, collaboration, and networking.

CNU 19 is the only place for Planetizen readers to see Charles Waldheim and Andres Duany engage in a vital, one-on-one dialogue that challenges Landscape Urbanism and New Urbanism to address one another directly.

In addition, the breakout sessions, plenaries, guided tours, and in-depth 202s - not to mention the numerous social and special events happening throughout the week in Madison - offer an unparalleled experience you can't find at any other conference. That's why we call it a Congress.
