The International Swimming Hall of Fame -- a major tourist attraction -- might be leaving Fort Lauderdale if its proposal to expand to meet international requirements is rejected by the city.

The International Swimming Hall of Fame needs to expand because it no longer complies with international requirements for the length and depth of its two 50-meter pools. But City of Fort Lauderdale officials have other plans in mind for the six-acre, city owned parking lots that the Hall envisioned as its expansion area. "If city commissioners decide, instead, to go with one of two condominium/retail proposals, Hall of Fame leaders say they probably will take the attraction to another city.Hollywood, Miami, Las Vegas -- and now Pompano Beach -- are among the contenders that could benefit from Fort Lauderdale's loss"
