While Planned Parenthood isn't even currently considering an office in Gardner, Mass., opponents of the nonprofit have petitioned the Planning Board to create zoning limitations that would exclude them from opening up shop.
The Planning Board will consider the petition, which was signed by 703 locals, at their February meeting.
George Barnes reports that the petition "...seeks to change the city zoning ordinance to require a special permit from the City Council to operate a medical office in the central business district and neighborhood business district."
"'Such an organization would be a danger to the people of greater Gardner, especially our pregnant women and babies,' the petition stated."
