Defining A 'High-speed Rail' For Florida

A nine-member board is given the responsibility to define a high-speed rail system for Florida and advised not to get "hung up" on technology and speed.
Last fall, Florida voters approved a constitutional amendment requiring state leaders to begin construction by November 2003 of a high-speed rail linking Florida's major urban areas and traveling at 120 miles per hour. Mark Yachmetz of the Federal Railroad Administration warned that board that the speed isn't always worth the cost of technology.
