Why Kansas City Needs A Light Rail System

Charles B. Wheeler writes about the benefits that a light rail system will bring to Kansas City and encourages residents to take a "bold action."

ansas City residents' choice in the Aug. 7 light-rail election is about congestion, convenience, choice and, most importantly, community.Light rail is a cost-effective alternative to traffic congestion. The proposed light-rail system would offer a convenient alternative to the car for tens of thousands of residents, taking them within walking distance of more than 10,000 jobs per mile along the system... Light rail has slowed the growth in traffic congestion by 42 percent when compared to cities without light rail."
