The Return of the Streetcar

MSNBC interviews Chandra Brown, a VP at Oregon Iron Works who pushed the business to start building streetcars to compete with European-built models. She says streetcars as an environmentally-friendly solution that are also great for local economies.

The piece also includes interviews with Mark Hallenbeck at The University of Washington who is skeptical of the streetcar advantage. Mayor Sam Adams and Rick Gustafson, the Executive Director of Portland Streetcar Inc., also weigh in on the benefits.
