America's Faulty, Dangerous Transportation Systems

Safety is an escalating issue in America across the maritime, air, highway and rail networks, as revealed in this extensive investigation by The Center for Public Integrity and News21.

CPI and News21 report that "[o]ver the past 43 years, the National Transportation Safety Board has issued more than 13,000 recommendations to make travel safer," and that most of those recommendations go ignored.

Fatigue is a considerable problem for drivers as well as pilots, and over the last 40 years, "there have been more than 320 airplane accidents and incidents related to fatigue, and nearly 750 people have died."
