Holograms Used To Make Drivers More Aware
8 September 2010 - 7:00am
The City of West Vancouver is piloting a new program to help drivers slow down for the back to school season: they are projecting a hologram onto the road featuring a young girl running after a ball to call attention to driving safety.
Rebecca Lindell writes that "<(t)he display, which costs $15,000 to run, will be installed in a school zone on 22nd Street(...)
The 3D image will look like an indistinguishable mark from far away, but by the time the driver is within 30 metres, the image of the girl and ball will become clear."
The goal of the program is to get drivers to be more aware of the potential impact of speeding in slow zones.
