RFP: Downtown Nashville Signage Regulations

This announcement was posted by:
Metro Nashville PLanning Department and Department of Finance

We are looking for an experienced sign ordinance writer to develop a sign code for Downtown Nashville to compliment our recently adopted Downtown Code

Consultants with experience in developing sign regulations, especially in diverse downtown environments are needed to assess the current signage regulations applicable in Downtown Nashville and propose a complete signage code specifically tailored to Downtown Nashville.

This project will determine the appropriate form of signage for each of the Subdistricts, or neighborhoods, within Downtown as well as the appropriate procedures for requiring compliance with the standards, taking into consideration the reuse of existing buildings, conformance with the MDHA and Historic signage standards, the nature of property redevelopment, and protections afforded to nonconforming signs by the state.

Many communities may value clean and safe streets more highly than free but overcrowded curb parking. Parking may not be free, but it will be convenient and worth paying for.
