The Bloustein Online Continuing Education Program offers high quality, affordable and convenient continuing education in urban planning.

A Bloustein Professional Certificate from Rutgers University can help you become more effective in your practice and advance in your career. Our Deep Learning courses are designed to help the best and brightest in our field get smarter. We teach practical skills in planning and challenge you to think more critically and creatively.

Starting September 15, 2010 and through to June 2011, Bloustein Online Continuing Education Program is offering more than 25 Deep Learning courses in five course tracks:
• Cultural planning and development
• Economic and community development
• Land use law and legal issues
• Leadership and professional practice
• Urban design and placemaking

All courses are entirely online and there are no required meetings. You learn with other professionals from planning, architecture, civil engineering community development and other fields focused on improving places. You learn from experienced practitioners who guide you through readings, moderate conversations with your learning team, and provide challenging assignments. In our studio classes, learners work on real issues for real clients.

Almost every class is eligible for 14 AICP Certification Maintenance credits.
(Although there are no required meetings, you can participate in optional chat or videoconference sessions with your teammates. BOCEP learners come from around the world.)

BOCEP Deep Learning courses combine the best aspects of in-person workshops and self-paced courses. Most workshops do not give you the time to practice what you learn and reflect on your experiences (which is critical for making learning ‘stick’). Deep Learning courses are 5.5 weeks long, so you have the time to work at your convenience. Self-paced courses are convenient, but can feel isolating. In BOCEP Deep Learning courses, you can interact with other smart and dedicated professionals like yourself.

You can get a Bloustein Professional Certificate for less than half the cost of attending a two-day workshop. You could spend about $1,000 to travel to and attend a typical weekend workshop. With scholarships, you can get a Bloustein Professional Certificate of Completion (three courses) for as little as $585.
(By the way, please do not be fooled into thinking that more expensive means better. We make our courses more affordable to give more professionals fair opportunities to get good education. )
