Guardian Of The Mall

Landscape architect John G. Parsons of the National Park Service is in charge of protecting the Washington Mall.
"With a team of 60 archaeologists, historians, architects and support personnel, Mr. Parsons, 61, is responsible for the area's memorials, parkways and national parks...almost half of Mr. Parsons's time is spent on memorials. As the park service representative on the National Capital Planning Commission and the National Capital Memorials Commission, whose approvals are needed for memorials, he wields enormous power."
