New Park to Bloom Under Bay Bridge
17 July 2010 - 11:00am
Where the Bay Bridge touches down in San Francisco, a new plan is in the works to turn a motley collection of underused spaces into a vibrant park.
The Bay Bridge Gateway Park will open when the new Bay Bridge is completed in 2013.
From the ASLA blog: "The new park will also restore the industrial area to nature and add new wetlands; create a network of trails linking Oakland to the park; offer 'self-guided exploration' or a new museum; and include a new 'Ferris wheel, gondola, art, or a destination restaurant.'"
Architects Perkins + Will and PWP Landscape Architecture have produced three variations on a theme for public discussion.

In fact, the plan is for where the Bay Bridge touches down in Oakland, not in San Francisco.
