Getting the Mix Right in Mixed-Use

A local Austin developer talks about the challenges of getting the right mix of services that residents can support.

Terry Mitchell, president of Momark Development, said that parking continues to be an issue for attracting retailers, particularly coffee shops, that believe that drive-up traffic is their bread and butter. Weighing in on a local mall development plan, Mitchell says it would be "very difficult" to support. He says that he tries to get a "small-town feel" in his projects.
