What Happens When Small Towns Grow?
9 July 2001 - 12:00pm
Purcellville, VA, is a small town that is growing
"[Mayor] Marsh has instructed the police chief to tell all eight Purcellville officers to wave to residents, 'or at least return waves.' That way, he said, people will feel like they still live in a quaint hamlet...Propelling the growth of Purcellville are families with young children who seek more land and a settled community. The notion of living in a home town with no mall or movie theater and only a handful of restaurants appeals to them -- and most new arrivals."
