Majority of Michigan residents support protecting the state's natural assets and public opinion is making a difference.

"At the local level, the drive to protect natural resources and improve the quality of life has caused untraditional allies to form local coalitions that are changing the face of Michigan communities. " Politicians in the state have modified their position on environmental issues in accordance with popular sentiment.
