Cities Purchasing Hybrid Cars

Portland is just the latest city to look to hybrid gas-electric vehicles when purchasing fleet vehicles.
"Portland Mayor Vera Katz wants the City Council to turn over a green leaf this week and approve the purchase of 30 environmentally friendly hybrid cars. The vehicles would be the first hybrid gas-electric cars purchased by the city, which hopes to make a statement in support of new technologies for cleaner air." Several cities in Washington and Oregon have already made purchases of hybrid vehicles. Hybrid electic cars are emerging as alternatives to other fleet vehicles powered with natural gas. "Its primary fuel is still gasoline, which is readily available."
