Many Planetizen readers will recognize Director Poticha from her past positions with Reconnecting America and CNU. Contrary to the article below, S. 1619: Livable Communities Act of 2009 has not passed Congress. It is in the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs.
"Poticha, who is director of HUD's newly created Office of Sustainable Housing and Communities, speaks on land use, transit patterns, economic recovery, and the government's vision for a healthier built environment.
Now that her office has become official with the passage (sic) of the Livable Communities Act of 2009, BUILDER caught up with Poticha to ask a few questions about the Obama administration's land use agenda and how it's likely to influence the kinds and locations of homes that will be built in the years to come."
