Cities Retain Control Of Florida Billboards

Gov. Jeb Bush vetoed a transportation bill -- and in the process helped Florida local govermnent to maintain control over billboards.
"Calling it a bloated example of last-minute lawmaking at its worst, Gov. Jeb Bush vetoed a massive transportation bill Thursday -- and in the process dealt a victory to Orlando's efforts to curb billboards.Bush said he nixed the bill because it was stuffed with too many things, including almost 200 changes to state law. Lost in the mix, though, was a provision fought for by the powerful billboard lobby that would have limited cities' ability to regulate the placement of the huge roadside signs."
