Carbon Emission Standards vs. Historic Preservation

In the U.K., new carbon emission standards may mean that great numbers of buildings from the 1960s and 70s will need to be demolished.

Rebecca O'Connor reports, "...the Government’s new chief construction adviser said that there may be no choice but to demolish buildings put up in those decades because it is impossible to refurbish them to a sufficiently high standard."

Buildings listed with English Heritage are likely to be exempted.
