What's The Verdict On HOV Lanes?

12 June 2001 - 10:00am

Transportation engineers in Charlotte are wrestling with the successes and shortcomings of building carpool lanes.

And carpooling is so hot in Washington, D.C., that lone drivers (they're called bodysnatchers) will pick up strangers (they're called slugs) so they can legally drive in the HOV lanes." Looking at the mixed results from High Occupancy Vehicle Lanes from around the country, Charlotte, NC is beginning its own experiment with HOW lanes.
