Mapping The Earth's Ecological Health

A $21 million project will use satellite data to map the health of the planet's ecosystems.
"The project will provide a more complete and integrated picture of how human activities are affecting the health of the planet, according to the sponsors...Called the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment, the four-year, U.S. $21 million project will draw heavily on data from thousands of satellite images that show changes in coastlines, countryside, mountains, wetlands, agricultural areas, and urban sprawl."
