Martin County, FL Approving Rural Development
23 December 2009 - 8:00am

Opponents say that "...the amended plan will open the west to Broward County-style sprawl, taxing the county's ability in the future to plan and pay for roads, water and sewer services.
'If they had said a half-acre for a 7-Eleven, a lot of people would not have blinked,' said Donna Melzer, a former county commissioner and chairwoman of the Martin County Conversation Alliance. 'But you can get a lot onto 5 acres.'"
