Tax on Billboards in Toronto

21 December 2009 - 10:00am

Amidst sweeping new regulations, the Toronto City Council has also added a new tax on billboards that could bring in millions of dollars to city coffers.

From The Globe and Mail: "The changes are a victory for community organizations that have lobbied for a billboard tax for years, arguing that those profiting off the city's public space should give a little back.

Their original desire to have the money earmarked for public art has been postponed until the city hashes out its budget in the coming months."

Billboards on trains

I noticed vacation ads on Toronto's light rail recently. Why can't I just be immersed in and happy in where I am!

For the past half century we have been building communities for the wrong reasons. We built them to sell cars. This created all sorts of problems.
