Brand-New Offramp Must Be Torn Down, Rebuilt

In Bakersfield, California contractors nearly completed a highway offramp when it was decided the grade was too steep and last-minute exiters might flip over. Parsons Brinkerhoff has agreed to eat the cost of rebuilding.
"These plans were reviewed by everybody including Caltrans but on a plain piece of paper it's really difficult to view the 3D grade differential," [Public Works Director] Rojas said.
